New MA Child and Family Credit

You can get this credit even if you did not have taxable income in 2023.

The payments are $310 for each covered household member.

Covered household members are people who lived with and were supported by you in 2023, and were one of the following:

  • Child who was under 13 in 2023 who is your dependent. In some cases, this can be a child who is  not related to you.

  • Adult who was 65 or older in 2023 who is your dependent. In some cases, this can be a person who is  not related to you.

  • Adult or child (of any age) who is disabled who is your dependent. In some cases, this can be a disabled person who is not related to you.

  • Spouse who can’t care for themself because of a mental or physical condition.

You do not need a social security number (SSN) to get the credit! You can get it for covered household members if you have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), as long as the covered household members have an SSN or an ITIN.

You must file a 2023 MA tax return to get the payments. You can do this even if you did not have income in 2023 that requires you to file taxes.
